i saw the mary kate worshipping crowd
a new generation of confused young women resisting their bodies
the young struggle to keep from being swallowed by the world

8:57 pm - rock band im listening to...
Hey guys,

Keep an eye on this up-and-coming band called Cholo from NYC. You can hear some mp3's on myspace.com/cholo ... My personal fave is Elevator. I'm thinking of messing with one of their songs on my next mix.

3:29 am - filter magzine... bright eyes, over the edge
latest issue of filter has an interview with bright eyes. and there's an interview with the director of the movie Over The Edge (which i talked about in a journal entry)... he mentions they might release it on dvd for its 25th anniversary. he talks about how kurt cobain ordered the movie before the 'smells like teen spirit' video was filmed, probably to get ideas for the shoot. bright eyes... i have to look out for his two new albums coming out next month, im starting to listen to more of his stuff. he'd be too young to know the movie, i was six when it was on tv. i hope it comes out on dvd so i can see it again.

who paints the green on the trees

who gives a yearning to the bees

like honey dripping from her knees

self-portrait of a young girl captured by her eye

engaging the unsure future, leaving the past to cry

plight of an angel trying to keep her wings dry

against storms of boys while learning to fly

(more later..)

i havent written poems for K in a little while. i feel the feeling to do more writing though. and i figured i should practice writing on other friends and onliners. "Onliners", there's a new word.

i like cam photos people send me. it's amateurish yet personal or intimate. here's something that bre sent.
i really like this photo, it's almost like a movie still. she's photogenic, i've told her that before. so anyway... i decided to practice writing something on her. i dont think she'd mind ?

1:13 am
so i am doing something in the evening with a friend or two (or three or more) and when i'm home i still enjoy chilling in front of the computer talking to a friend online. it's almost like hanging out with them but not quite. maybe we've never even met, or never will meet at all. but the caring and friendship still is there. what a new age we have stumbled upon. most teenagers (like bre below) grew up with the Internet but my generation didn't quite get it until college, and most of us didn't really use chat rooms. it's apparent that those who have spent their teen years with the Internet have chatted online regularly in the past if not present. it is remarkable how we embrace things. in my day it was considered quite geeky to talk on the computer. think of the scene in "revenge of the nerds" when one of the stars meets his girlfriend in a computer room and he makes a cartoon of them holding hands. it's not a chat room but the simulated romantic gesture was decidedly nerdy. romantic gestures like cyberkisses ":x" aren't real but more people are writing romantic conversations to each other online. i'm still not quite sure how successful this form of romantic bonding is in terms of starting a real relationship, but we can still do it like a bad habit.

12:59 am - about the november 10 mix
SEELENLUFT has an album on klein records, i missed it but got this 12" instead. still very nice, i have been liking this kind of vocal driven stuff.

MOUNT SIMS has his album on gigolo, supposed to be really good

MISS DINKY, i try to get all her singles. her album black cabaret was pretty cool, vocal driven retro sounding, wavy music. this track 'acid in my fridge' was in the cocoon compilation D, its more like the dancefloor techno stuff she makes.

GLAMOUR TO KILL-- don't know much about them but they hvae a site www.glamourtokill.de

JUSTICE vs. SIMIAN -- a remix of the band SIMIAN, have to find out more about them but i like the vocals they sampled fro. its yet another gigolo record.

CROSSOVER -- from their earlier album Fantazmo on Gigolo, the king of retrotechno

FELIX DA HOUSECAT -- both tracks are from his latest album on emporer norton, though i have them both on singles. i thought they were the best ones but i should check the album

ELECTRIC INDIGO and SAVAS PASCALIDIS -- been follwing them for a long time and they still do what they do really well.

VERLUST, TELEGRAPH, YOUTHANASIA -- don't know who they are, TELEGRAPH is supposed to be a major outfit in germany but they are using an alias because they are remaking an 80's classic and don't want to be sued (i suppose, thats what usually happens). the YOUTHANASIA track is also a remake. i should find out who all three are since i really liked them.

over half the artists are german i should visit sometime !

Kelly's house will be hit soon by a storm. I hope the east coast is okay. I know how things are not built for big storms like we are back home. Though we learned the difficult way-- in the 1960's Typhoon Karen destroyed most homes because they were wooden and couldn't hold against it. But when they were rebuilt they used concrete instead, so now most homes are concrete and the destruction is much less. Our house growing up was still wooden though... somehow it survived typhoon after typhoon until 1997(?) when the roof finally got seriously damaged so my family had to find a better house (about time too!). I was a baby when one of the largest typhoons hit, Typhoon Pamela. I think I was two months old. So my mom called me a "pamela baby". Pamela is kind of a bitchy sounding name, I like it.

Ever since then I've been a sponge for catastrophes. hehe... no thats just a part of me saying that.

These days, I've got doctor appointments to go to. Nothing serious but I need some treatment for something that annoys me almost every day.
